Good Pet Food Kitchen was born from the desire to help pet guardians feed a natural, fresh and nutritionally balanced diet to their beloved pets. It’s not rocket science, although it is science based.

Their goal is simple. To increase the quality and length of our animal companions lives through real food that they LOVE to eat.

Their approach to canine and feline nutrition is the same as how we feed ourselves, highest quality ingredients prepared to retain maximum goodness and flavour with nothing artificial. Made with love and care to human standards.

All recipes are thoroughly researched and tested.

Their Kitchen in Bondi prepares beautiful, nutritionally balanced meals daily and then refrigerates and freezes them at the correct temperatures to ensure the highest quality is delivered to your pets.

At Good Pet Food Kitchen we have taken time to develop strong relationships with farmers who are producing the best quality pasture raised lamb and beef, free range chickens and eggs and sustainably harvested fish. We use only the freshest vegetables, fruit, herbs, seaweed, nuts, seeds and oils. We use organic whenever possible. Organ meat is a vital ingredient.

Dogs and cats do not digest most grains easily. Their best source of energy comes from non-carbohydrate sources like animal protein, raw fat and raw bone, in the right amounts.

Although carbohydrate from sources such as corn and wheat are a very economical ‘filler’ in commercial pet food (30-60% found in big brand commercial pet foods), at Good Pet Food Kitchen we choose to use mostly vegetables and fruit for our lower carbohydrate content. Many of our recipes are grain-free. In some recipes we use small amounts of rice, oats or quinoa.

We believe in feeding a combination of raw and lightly cooked pet meals which is reflected in our menu selection. Variety and rotation is key to a balanced pet nutrition feeding plan, which is why we create recipes that incorporate the best seasonal produce. A dog or cat in the wild would never catch the same prey day after day, why should they been given the same meal day after day by the human companions?

Good Pet Food Kitchen wants all pets to experience the joy and health giving benefits of real food made with love and knowledge.

Good Pet Food Kitchen has been inspired by a lifetime of having dogs and cats as friends and 10 years working as a qualified vet nurse with some of Australia’s best vets.

When speaking with pet owners, I am often amazed at how nervous people are of feeding real food to their pets. Clever marketing by multi-national commercial pet food companies has succeeded in having people believe that it is “dangerous” to feed anything other than their highly-processed, grain heavy “food”.

At Good Pet Food Kitchen we are also inspired by the abundance of beautiful, healthy produce available in Australia and the simple joy of preparing and cooking food with love.

Most people now have a good understanding of the importance of good nutrition and healthy meals for themselves and their families, thanks to the explosion of our ‘foodie’ culture. Master Chef, My Kitchen Rules, celebrity chefs and everyday people talking, living, breathing delicious, wonderful, vibrant food. Exciting times!

We also live in a time of our beloved pets being truly another member of the family. Love, exercise, comfy beds, excellent preventative health, top notch veterinary care available in times of illness and accidents, doggy day care, dog walkers, pet sitters, boarding kennels, endless pet supplies.

We want the best for our companion animals and this includes the best nutrition as the basis of good health and longevity. But what exactly is ‘best’?

Best is fresh, real food proportionally and nutritionally balanced. It should also be species and age appropriate. Dogs are carnivores, so are cats. They need good quality muscle meat and organ meat to truly thrive. Adding a wide range of fresh vegetables, fruits, eggs, fish, herbs, oils and sometimes a very small amount of the right grains for sustained energy.

At Good Pet Food Kitchen we research constantly to keep up to date with the latest in canine and feline nutrition. We also go back to basics. Real food. No additives. No preservatives. No questionable chemicals. No animal “meal” or animal “by-products”. Just real ingredients that are good enough for human consumption! Prepared with love and thanks and always to Human Food Handling Safety levels.

When only the best will do for your furry friend, please choose Good Pet Food Kitchen.

Value for money

At Good Pet Food Kitchen, our products are priced per kilo, generally this ranges from $20 to $25 per kilo. This is on par with the top veterinary and pet store premium brand pet foods. Except we are FRESH !! And lovingly made in a kitchen, by human hands.

We currently sell in 250 gram containers = $5 – $6.25 and 500 gram = $10 to $12.50.

Please see our feeding chart to determine how much you would need daily for your dog.

As a guide a 10kg dog would need between 300-500 grams of Good Pet Food Kitchen per day. This is an average only and correct feed amounts also depends on your dog’s activity levels and current bodyweight (ie: is your dog under or over weight? Or just right?)

If you decide to feed commercial dry food in conjunction with Good Pet Food Kitchen, be sure to adjust the amounts of each so that the total intake of food for the day is correct. Please contact us  or your veterinarian if you are unsure how to do this.

Good Pet Food Kitchen meals can also be given as an occasional special meal if your dog does not have a sensitive stomach. Even feeding one real food meal per week will have a very positive impact on your dog’s health.
